It was our first time creating a blogsite, the experience was both fun and challenging. Creating the site was fun because it was a new experience and a few new tricks were learn during this time. The blog was up and running after two failed attempts because instructions were not properly followed and internet access was challenge at the time.
Accumulating an audience is currently an obstacle. The blogsite link was shared amongst family and friends however, there was little to no traffic on the site. So we had to look for after was of increasing the number of audiences on the site and through research and consultation we discovered that linking the blogsite with the social media accounts of the organization is a way gaining the attention of the targeted audience.
The fear of criticism was also an obstacle, the thought of putting our opinions out there for public opinion and observation was frightening because the style of writing we choose for the blog is an informal writing style, and this because we aim to accommodate a large target audience and to post easy to read content. Starting up on a blogsite will leave you wondering if the targeted audience will value and appreciate the stories and information published. We realized that criticism is inevitable. So we agreed on accepting any criticism we receive and using it to improve where we can.
Deciding upon which content to share on the blogsite was also an issue because we mainly deal with the disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. Most of the individuals that benefit from our efforts prefer privacy over public consumption. So we are challenged with respecting their decisions and using what we can to generate and distribute content without hindering their emotional aspect on the issues.
To date we are still encouraging more blogsite traffic, specifically to get more reactions, sharing and engagement on our content. Regardless of the obstacles and challenges we will not give up on the purpose of the having this blog. We will continue to seek ways to improve the site and develop our standard until we issue quality content and grow the number of audiences.
